My Grandfather's Mexico Collection

"My grandfather's belongings were a whole house full of 'Mexico.'"
Painter Takayoshi Ito visited Mexico, a country he frequented over 80 times from 1965 until his death in 2011, for approximately 50 years. What remained as a result of this passion was a vast collection of folk art, enough to fill an entire house.
The family left behind was at a loss, overwhelmed by the sheer quantity and intensity of these items.
"My Grandfather's Collected Mexico" is a story of how his granddaughter, documentary filmmaker Moe Wada, confronts and organizes these "belongings" and compiles them into a book, thereby rediscovering her grandfather's life and passion.
It is a profoundly personal yet universally relatable "documentary of life," depicting the trajectory of a person who lived as if possessed by something, and how those who inherited it "bring it to an end."
